on Fun Fridays or Motivate Me Mondays.

This is a super cute idea by Jonathan Fog on Ehow: Family Tree.

Students can create one and then present to the class, describing each family member - looks, Personality, Likes, Dislikes, Famous quotations, etc.) Another creative way to use this tree would be organize collaborative groups.

February Pinterest Picks

Happy February, everyone.  

This year is already in full swing!

What better way to celebrate than to join this month's Pick 3 Linky Party.

Pom Pom Book Marks

I think these pom pom book marks are easy to make and they would make lovely, inexpensive student gifts for either the first day of school or the first day the student comes to your class.  In August I purchase tons of composition books.  I give each student a free composition on the first day of school or the first day they come to our class.  Placing a pom pom book mark would add a little lovely detail.  I think this might go on my summer to do list, for sure. 

Mini DIY Button Book

This has to be the cutest DIY tiny book ever.  It seems very elementary, but I have to adapt it to middle school somehow.  I started in elementary and I use many elementary methods with my kids.  And, I have to say, they love it.  Who doesn't love creating and color?  I think I could use these mini books to help kids review parts of speech, types of sentences, literary terms, narrative elements, acrostics, etc.  Nice fun projects for E.O.Y. activities.

Good Morning, Friends

August is here.  Can you believe it?

This Friday is our first leadership meeting, and next week the 

2015 School Year is officially in session.  

I want to thank everyone who visited my blog this summer.  

I cannot thank the link up sites enough.  They availed my blog the opportunity to have been visited by many readers that I most likely would have never been able to reach all by myself.

Today's DIY is a small trinket I made for my own sake, to keep on my desk. Hopefully, this little plaque will remind me of what I mostly want to do this year.  Smile.

I LOVE BOOKMARKS

I found bunches of different ways to make bookmarks on Pinterest.

Last year I made these for each teacher at our school.
I put them in their mailboxes on the first day the students arrived.

Yellow, Black and White are our school colors.

Our mascot is an eagle.  The ribbon resembles wings.

It was fun to see teachers' agendas clipped with the same bookmarks.

This year I made bookmarks for my students' agendas. 

I used buttons that are sewn through an attachment on the back.

I slipped the paper clip through the button hole.

Then, I adhered the button to the clip so it wouldn't move.

A glue gun works well with plastic buttons.

Metal adhesives work better with metal buttons.

The hot glue did leave a thick glob of glue. Being that the metal adhesive was less noticeable, I ended up using it to finish all the clips. I left the clip up-side-down overnight to make sure it dried completely.
